HR Consultancy requires a Quantity Surveyor based in Edinburgh on a temporary basis for a minimum of 12 weeks with the possibility of extending beyond this. 

 

 

The main purpose of the role will include:  

  • Responsible for delivering high quality, effective, efficient and well managed customer-focused services, ensuring a thriving, safe, energy efficient, well-maintained and managed, sector.
  • To provide a comprehensive service to the highest professional standards on all aspects of the organisations building and maintenance programmes.
  • To provide surveying function and deliver a responsive and efficient service to all clients.
  • To maintain professional standards as they relate to design and pricing throughout the Department’s capital and maintenance programmes.
  • Assist the Surveying Team Leader by ensuring that performance targets are achieved and an effective and efficient service is delivered to meet the objectives of the division.
  • Support the implementation of policies and procedures comply with all relevant legislation and regulation and ensure that services support the delivery of the agreed strategy.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of major programmes of construction works to agreed costs, time scales and standards ensuring that the services are aligned with policy and strategy and comply with legislation and regulation.
  • Provide professional support and assistance to the Surveying Team Leader and deputise as required.
  • The Business Plan underpins all financial and decision-making processes ensuring investment is targeted at priorities and that plans are funded and affordable. Ensure Service objectives are met and that all risks to performance are identified, assessed and reported to Surveying Team Leader.
  • Take an effective role when contributing to the continuous improvement of all.
  • Organise and manage their own workload, ensuring that performance and quality standards are met.
  • Undertake complex cost / benefit analysis and risk assessments when determining the most appropriate solution to asset strategy and communicate the same.
  • Produce high quality reports and other written work, often working to deadlines
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people and organisations.
  • Develop and lead a range of multiagency groups in order to take forward service design and policy development, procedure development to negotiate funding or contribution to initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will have responsibility to undertake surveys and audits of several projects, varying in size and complexity, carried out by external contractors and in-house service delivery teams.

 

Required Skills / Experience / Qualifications

  • Professional qualification such as MRICS or equivalent.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant professional discipline and have relevant experience in an asset management environment.
  • Risk management, performance monitoring and control and project management skills (preferably using PRINCE2 methodology) etc.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in their professional discipline
