Q: Why "HR Consultancy"?

A: Not, as you might have thought, Human Resources (though we do that too) but Hilary Roberts.

Q: Yet another recruitment agency? What was the motivation for founding HR Consultancy?

A: When I was at school, I wanted to be a social worker or a teacher as "helping people" was important to me. When I set up HR Consultancy in 1995, I specialised in technical insurance roles as this was a sector I had worked in. We developed into other areas as the company grew. We've come a long way since 1995 but I like to think that the "helpful" ethic continues to drive the business.

Q: There are hundreds of recruitment agencies in Scotland. What makes you special?

A: Obviously, recruitment is about people. We are rightly proud of ours and believe that the quality of our staff makes us stand out from the crowd. That's why we have scattered photographs of them throughout the site along with their pet hates and their passions. We're not a faceless organisation. We're dedicated and professional but we also have bags of personality!

Q: You're not the biggest recruitment company I've come across. Would I not be better off going to one of the big national, or even multinational, agencies?

A: It's true that we're not a global corporation but we believe that this works in our favour. It's all about personal service, not world domination. We're independent and privately owned so able to react quickly to client needs and our knowledge and understanding of the local markets is second to none.

Q: What should I expect from HR Consultancy?

A: To be treated as an individual and an important one at that. To be provided with honest feedback and quality advice. To get the sort of service we would want if we needed help with recruitment. Our values define the way we do business: Respect, Honesty and Passion. Is it possible or even reasonable, you might ask, to be "passionate" about recruitment? Well, we think so and we think you'll find it makes a difference.
